The 39-year-old English actress Jodie Whittaker made history
when she bagged the role as the first female doctor in the popular science fiction
drama Doctor Who. She revealed that the filming of the upcoming series of the
programme has been completed.

BBC posted a picture on Twitter captioned, “That’s a wrap!
Jodie Whittaker and Mandip Gill have finished filming ?❤️❤️”

She will be exiting the show after filming for three
specials of the BBC drama next year. The anticipated release dates of these
specials are New Year 2022, an episode in the spring and the last one in autumn
2022 as part of the BBC’s centenary celebrations.

33-year-old actress Mandip Gill acts as the Doctor’s
assistant Yasmin.

BBC recently dropped a teaser trailer of the upcoming show.
The season will conclude the 13th Doctor’s tenure at the helm. The
thirteenth season will be on air beginning October 31 and it will comprise of eight
episodes.

Two new entrants will be appearing on the show, the first
one being an ordinary human being played by popular comedian John Bishop and
the other big entrant being Game of Thrones’ actor Jacob Anderson.

Anderson will be performing the role of a futuristic ally ‘Vinder’.

Whittaker’s time at the show has been full of controversies largely
because of being linked with Chris Chibnall, the showrunner.

Chibnall’s work has been largely disappointing and neither
of his two seasons in charge has managed to make an impact on the viewers.
However, the fans are hoping for an improved performance from him in the
upcoming season.

The showrunner will depart from the show soon and his
replacement has already been finalised in Russel T. Davies who will mark his
return to the TV series and hope to take it to new heights once again.
