Every time it appeared that The Flash would actually make it to theatres, another controversy, delay, or scandal derailed the speedster.

Fans began to worry that The Flash might crash and be cancelled forever due to Ezra Miller’s widely reported legal issues and other problems behind the scenes, but it seems that Barry Allen and his alter ego are set to hit the screens not too far from now.

The studio that is now being run by two new executives, James Gunn and Peter Safran, and giving the DC Universe a fresh look has a lot to offer. There are a lot of questions about The Flash, which has already been filmed and is ready for distribution. Although Gunn enjoyed the film, the most recent rumour contains some jarring information regarding Ezra Miller.

In the DCEU, currently known as the DCU, The Flash is a sort of multiversal endeavour. For a while now, Grant Gustin’s involvement in The Flash movie has been rumoured. The majority of those theories point to a cameo appearance, which makes sense considering that Miller’s Scarlet Speedster appeared in The CW’s Arrowverse during the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover; however, a more recent rumour raises the prospect of something more.

According to The Direct, YouTuber John Campea presented a rumour that suggested Gustin would take Miller’s place as the film’s title character at the conclusion of the movie, marking the end of Ezra Miller’s run as Barry Allen and paving the way for Grant Gustin in this universe.

“Could we, by the end of The Flash movie, literally see a new performer in the role…I’ve had a little bird [tell] me and I’m sure this little bird is also telling a few other people, so you’re probably going to see this pop up over the next day or two around some other places as well that, just a short version, Grant Gustin, who plays The Flash in the television series The Flash is going to be the new Flash of the DC Universe,” John said, as reported by The Direct.

Although both Barry Allens are portrayed by Miller, at least two of them were already shown in the The Flash trailer. Nonetheless, the fact that there are already two Flashes establishes a precedent for a third in the movie’s reality.

There will also be precedent for characters from other realms and franchises making appearances in the next movie because at least two previous Batmen (Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck) will appear.

However, all this is based on rumors and there is no concrete evidence to support these theories. The only course of action to support this is to wait for the movie to release.

The Flash is set to hit cinemas on June 16.
