Matthew William Goode essayed the role of Antony Armstrong-Jones in the initial seasons followed by ben Daniel from season 3 onwards in the Netflix drama series. The second season of the series focused its attention on the intense relationship between Princess Margaret played by Vanessa Kirby and Antony Armstrong-Jones, the photographer who became Lord Snowdon when he married Margaret in 1960.

Armstrong-Jones began a career as a photographer after completing university, mainly in fashion, design, and theatre. Snowdon became the artistic adviser of The Sunday Times Magazine, in the early 1960s, and by the 1970s he was one of Britain’s most respected photographers.
Antony%u2019s work included everything from fashion photography to documentary images of inner-city life and portraits. He is best known for his portraits of world notables, many of them were even published in Vogue, Vanity Fair, and The Daily Telegraph magazine.

Princess Margaret first met Antony at a friend%u2019s party in 1958, but apparently, nothing happened at the party until he was commissioned to create a portrait of the royal. Princess Margaret married Anthony Armstrong-Jones at Westminster Abbey in London on May 6, 1960. They both had two children; David Albert Charles and Lady Sarah Frances Elizabeth.

Despite appearing to be happily married, their love story was marred by reports of multiple affairs. Soon after being married for few years, Princess Margaret announced her separation from Antony on March 19, 1976.
While Lord Snowdon remarried Lucy Mary Lindsay-Hogg in 1978, soon after his divorce from Margaret was finalized, his second marriage ended in divorce, too. Armstrong-Jones died in 2017 at the age of 86, which Buckingham Palace confirmed.
