Noah Centineo has returned to Netflix after the success of “Black Adam,” albeit in a very different capacity. In the first trailer for “The Recruit,” a spy series that will be available on streaming platform next month, “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” star is featured. Netflix, on November 16, released a trailer and poster for the new series, which will premiere on December 16.

Alexi Hawley created the series. He is best known for creating the ABC cop procedural “The Rookie” and its spinoff “The Rookie: Feds,” as well as his work as a writer for the crime drama “Castle.” The similarly titled “The Recruit,” like “The Rookie,” focuses on a brand-new member of a prestigious organization: in this case, the CIA.

“A fledgling lawyer at the CIA becomes enmeshed in dangerous international power politics when a former asset threatens to expose the nature of her long-term relationship with the agency unless the exonerate her of a series crime,” the official description reads. Netflix releases “The Recruit” on December 16. The Recruit follows Owen Hendricks (Centineo), a young lawyer who joins the CIA and finds action and intrigue. Owen jumps into the assignment eager to prove himself, but things quickly get out of hand as he is forced to travel the globe while being hunted by numerous international political players and groups. A mixture of action and comedy is hinted at in the trailer, with Owen’s sincere and carefree demeanor standing in stark contrast to the perilous situations he frequently finds himself in.

Along with Centineo, the cast of “The Recruit” also features Aarti Mann, Daniel Quincy Annoh, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Kristian Bruun, Laura Haddock, Colton Dunn, Fivel Stewart, Byron Mann, Angel Parker, and Kaylah Zande as Owen’s CIA coworkers.
