M’Baku was raised in Jabari Land, where he acquired a hatred for the Golden City’s standard of living and its use of vibranium. M’Baku eventually took control of the tribe and made plans to conquer the Jabari Tribe. M’Baku was disgusted that Shuri, who lacked regard for tradition in his perspective, had been in charge of Wakanda’s scientific accomplishments.

M’Baku decided to become the new King to restore Wakanda to its previous way of life because he was dissatisfied with the Golden Tribe’s reign.
