Bollywood actor Aamir Khan announced on Saturday that he and Kiran Rao will be ending their 15 years long marriage. In the statement released by the couple, the two elaborated on how they have been living separately for a while now. They further stated that they will remain %u2018co-parents and family%u2019. However, there was no mention of the details of what went wrong between the two.
Previously Khan was married to Reena Dutta also for 15 years before separating in 2002. The couple had two children- Junaid and Ira.

The two had met on the set of the 2001 movie %u2018Lagaan%u2019 wherein Rao was working as the assistant director. According to Khan, the two were just acquaintances on the set. It was only after his separation and the divorce with Reena Dutta that the two started bonding.

In an interaction with a Chinese channel, he said that speaking to Rao made him happy.
Aamir and Kiran got married in December 2005 and announced the birth of their son in 2011.
Aamir and Reena%u2019s love story was similar to what they make films out of. The boy makes advances and gets rejected by the girl. So he tries extra hard, promises to bring her the moon and eventually she reciprocates.
It is said that Aamir at one point had written a love letter to Renna but with blood. The two eventually ran away and got married due to religious differences.
The couple broke off the marriage in 2002. On Koffee With Karan, Aamir said that the split was traumatic for the two. %u201CWe tried to deal with the situation as best as we could. Reena and I did not lose love or respect for each other post our split%u201D, he said.
In another interview, Khan said that he was attracted to Dutta%u2019s sense of humour which perfectly matched his personality. In conversation with a magazine, he had said that the two knew each other since they were in their 20s and had grown up together.

Rumour mill churns
During his marriage with Reena, several link-ups were attached to Aamir%u2019s name. It was rumoured that he was involved with Pooja Bhatt and Mamta Kulkarni. Aamir was also reportedly involved with British journalist Jessica Hine with whom he allegedly also had a son.
