Abiy Ahmed Ali, who got a Nobel Prize in 2019 for their efforts to achieve peace and international cooperation and in particular for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea, became the Prime Minister of Ethiopia in April 2018.

Resolving border conflicts with Eritrea was one of his early decision as the country chief and he made it clear from the beginning that in his rule all possible efforts to conclude the historic conflict will be made.

The Prime Minister of Ethiopia is the head of government and chief executive of Ethiopia. The Prime Minister is the most powerful figure in Ethiopian politics and is the commander-in-chief of the Ethiopian Armed Forces.  Abiy Ahmed Ali (PhD) is the fourth Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
