At least three new major features are on their way to web-based
messaging application WhatsApp, including multi device mode, disappearing
messages and more. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, in a conversation with
WABetaInfo alongside WhatsApp Head Will Cathcart, confirmed the upcoming changes.
The platform has already rolled out disappearing messages in
2020, which can be turned on manually and leads to messages getting deleted
after seven days. The proposed changes to the disappearing mode, however, will
let the user turn on disappearing messages for all chats at once, as per
various media reports.

The company will also be introducing a ‘view once’ system,
through which users will be able to see the content sent once before they
disappear. However, Zuckerberg reportedly noted that people will be able to
take screenshots of the content before they disappear.
The multi device support, on the other hand, has reportedly
been in testing for quite some time, and is expected to allow users to access
their WhatsApp account on more than one device.

“It’s been a big technical challenge to get all your
messages and content to sync properly across devices even when your phone
battery dies, but we’ve solved this and we’re looking forward to getting it out
soon!”, a Hindustan Times report quoted Zuckerberg as saying.
