John Sutcliffe of ESPN opened the NFL 2022 Mexico game between San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals with an introduction in Mexican. His enthusiasm left social media users in awe.

“Loving the energy from these international games,” another user added.

Sutcliffe is working as a sideline reporter in the game. He has been part of the company since August 2000, he began working for ESPN as a reporter based in Mexico City, where he was born and raised. He served as a correspondent for Mexican soccer on SportsCenter and other studio shows.

Sutcliffe has been the official reporter for the Mexico National Team since joining ESPN, reporting on everything from tactics to transfers. He now does special collaborations for ESPN Deportes on golf, soccer, the NBA, and the NFL. Sutcliffe has covered five FIFA World Cups (1994, 1998, 2002, 2006, and 2010), always covering the Mexico National Team.

He has also covered all four Majors: the Masters, US Open, British Open, and Championship PGA.

The NFL’s 2022 International Series concludes with the fifth and final game. Prior to Monday night’s game, the NFL had three games in London and one in Munich, Germany. The Cardinals have won 11 of their last 14 meetings with the 49ers. However, the 49ers have won two straight games.

Kyler Murray is out for the Cardinals for the second week in a row owing to a hamstring injury. The 49ers lead the game 17-10 at the end of the first half. QB Jimmy Garoppolo threw two touchdown passes during the first 30 minutes, one to fan-favorite tight end George Kittle and another to wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
