Former England cricketer
Michael Vaughan is shocked to see there are no takers for England cricketers in
the IPL 2022 mega auction on Day 1. He is particularly stunned to see Adil
Rashid is not getting picked by any team. Taking to Twitter, Vaughan wrote,
“Just don’t understand why Adil Rashid doesn’t go for big bucks at the
#IPL !!! One of the best T20 game changers yet still doesn’t get picked up
!!!”

Rashid made his IPL debut in
2021 for Punjab Kings but was not retained by the franchise. The 33-year-old
had failed to impress his franchise as he played only once in the last season.

PBKS also failed to qualify
for the playoffs and finished sixth in the league standings with 12 points from
14 games. The franchise won six matches and lost eight fixtures.

In the IPL auction, Ishan
Kishan became the most expensive buy this year after Mumbai Indians (MI) bought
him for Rs 15.25 crore. Meanwhile, Avesh Khan also hit the limelight and became
the most expensive uncapped cricketer in IPL auction history after he was
picked for Rs 10 crore by Lucknow Super Giants.

Punjab Kings on Sunday
bought India’s U-19 World Cup-winning all-rounder Raj Bawa for Rs 2 crore.
Kings were bidding for him from the very start. Later SunRisers Hyderabad and
Mumbai Indians raised his price. PBKS finally secured his service for Rs 2
crore.

PBKS has retained only two
players in the auction – Mayank Agarwal and Arshdeep Singh – and has the
maximum purse (Rs 72 crore). As a result of having the highest purse available,
they are expected to be the busiest team at the 2022 IPL mega-auction. The
Punjab franchise also picked West Indies all-rounder Odean Smith for Rs 6
crore.
