Last week, Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive tackle Chris Jones was called for his challenge on Las Vegas Raiders QB Derek Carr. Tom Brady of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers also benefitted from a roughing the passer call against the Atlanta Falcons.

Roughing the passer is a penalty that occurs when a defensive player makes illegal contact with the quarterback after he has thrown a forward pass.

The penalty is generally 10 or 15 yards, depending upon the play and the offense receives an automatic first down.

Herbery was under pressure. He went for pass to Palmer but overthrew. Bradley Chubb, who challenged him, was called for roughing the passer penalty.

Fans and experts slammed the referees for their decisions in favour of quarterbacks.
