Apple is set to roll out its latest iOS update tonight at 10:00 PM IST. After the Far Out event, which witnessed the launch of the latest iPhone 14 series, Apple Watch Series 8 and the Airpod Pro 2, the tech giant’s loyalists will be eagerly waiting for the new updates to their devices. 

Apple provides software updates to phones for five years since their launch, and will do the same this time around. iPhones starting from iPhone 8 (which launched on September 27, 2017) will be supporting the new update.

Here is a list of all iPhones that will be supporting the latest iOS 16 update:

iPhone 8 series (iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus)

iPhone X series (iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max)

iPhone SE (iPhone SE 2nd generation, iPhone SE 3rd generation)

iPhone 11 series (iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max)

Will iPhone 14 series come with iOS 16?

All iPhone 14 series models will be shipped with out-of-box iOS 16. Apple had announced the launch of the new iOS at their Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2022 in June.

Here are the iPad models that will be updated with iPadOS 16:

iPad 5th generation- iPad 5th gen., iPad mini 5th gen., iPad Air 5th gen., iPad Pro 5th gen.

iPad 6th generation- iPad 6th gen., iPad mini 6th gen.

iPad 7th generation

iPad 8th generation

iPad 9th generation

The iPadOS 16 updates will be available in October.

Notable features

iOS 16 will come with a number of new features like a customisable lock screen that can have multiple widgets, animated wallpapers, and can also be linked with the Focus mode and the Apple Watch face. Users will also have an option to edit text messages they have already sent.

The Fitness+ app has now been added to iOS 16, and will be included for people who do not have Apple Watches. The iCloud will be coming with a Shared Photo Library option, from which users can share select photos from their libraries with their friends and family.
