Apple launched the iPhone 14 at the Apple Far Out Event 2022. The latest base version of the iPhone 14 model will have the same A15 Bionic chip as the iPhone 13 series. Only the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will be equipped with the latest A16 Bionic chips.

Size

The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models will be 6.1 inch in size. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will both be 6.7 inches.

Camera

Apple has improved photo capture in both low-light and bright-light conditions. It has a 12MP camera with a faster aperture. 

It will also come with a TrueDepth camera which will improve focus by 38%.

The camera will have an engine called Photonic Engine that will boost its performance in low-light conditions.

Action mode uses the full sensor. Also supports Dolby Vision HDR.

The Pro and Pro Max models will come with a 48MP camera.

Connectivity

No US model will have a SIM tray. All models will be using an eSIM. iPhone 14 users will also be able to ask for help using the new Emergency SOS via satellite feature.

A feature will show users where to point the phone in order to connect to the satellite. If the sky is clear, each message can be sent within 15 seconds. The feature will launch in November 2022 and will be free for the first two years. The feature will first be rolled out in the US and Canada. Cost for the service has not been mentioned yet. Likely to be similar to other dedicated app subscription prices.

Price 

The iPhone 14 model will start from $799 while the iPhone 14 Plus will be $899. The iPhone 14 Pro will start from $999 and the Pro Max model will start from $1099. The phones can be pre-ordered from September 9 and will start shipping from September 16.

Display Island

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max models will have a Display Island at the top, which will change shape according to the notification received.
