With over two billion users globally, Whatsapp is one of the most widely used instant messaging apps. Based on user experience, the company keeps adding intuitive features that enhance the app and makes it more user-friendly.

Considering the reports that are floating around, Whatsapp is planning to roll out a number of features in the upcoming time frame.

Expiring Media

As per WABetaInfo, the Expiring Media, which is in its development stages, is a feature that allows users to delete an image, video or GIF in the receiver’s phone, once they view the item.

The update will be rolled out in a future update.

Customizable Wallpapers

The new feature, still in the development stages, would let users set different wallpapers for different chats. The user can set different types of wallpapers for different users or apply a single wallpaper to all chats.

Storage control

The organising the storage usage section has been a problem for WhatsApp users. Often unnecessary files end up blocking your storage space. Hence, through its new Storage control, the company is looking to provide its users with more control over storage options.

Multi-device support

WhatsApp has also been working on the multi-device support feature for a long time. This feature will allow users to sign into their WhatsApp account from multiple devices at a single point of time. As per WABetaInfo reports, WhatsApp will allow a maximum of four devices to be signed into one account at a given point of time.

There is no timeline as to when the feature will be released.

History Sync

Along with all these features, WhatsApp will also rollout the history sync feature which will allow users to copy all of the chats from one device to another.

This along with the multi-device support feature will for the first time in WhatsApp’s history allow Android users to carry over their chats on to iPhones and vice verse.
