Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had to walk off an interview midway on Tuesday. He complained of a stomach bug.

After becoming ill during the live television interview, President Erdogan reportedly called off another day of planned campaign events. Erdogan also won’t travel to Mersin, a city on the Mediterranean coast on the advice of medical professionals on Thursday, Instead, he will participate in the ceremony through a video conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Who is Emine Erdoğanz?

Emine Erdoğan is the 68-year-old wife of Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is originally from the city of Siirt in the Kurdish southeast of Turkey. She spent her early years working on charitable causes. In the 1970s, she met President Erdogan through her Idealist Women’s Association.

She campaigned against child marriage after his accession to power in 2002 and fought for other worthwhile issues.  On July 4, 1978, she got married to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

Recep Erdogan Children:

The couple has been blessed with 4 children including 2 boys and 2 daughters. His sons Ahmet Burak Erdoğan and Necmettin Bilal Erdoğan are Turkish businessmen. Amongst his daughters, Sümeyye Erdoğan Bayraktar was one of the chief advisors of her father while Esra Erdoğan Albayrak is a sociologist from Turkey.

In recent events, the president of Turkey interrupted a live television interview and afterward apologized for the delay, claiming that he had a stomach disease.

Following these, he made a live appearance for a joint interview with Ulke TV and Kanal 7, according to AFP. Ten minutes into the presentation, it was cut short in the middle of a question when the president left the stage once more.

Following a 15-minute break, Erdogan returned to apologize for being sick, according to AFP. “Yesterday and today were hard work. That’s why I got a stomach flu. At one point, I wondered if it would be misunderstood if we canceled the program. But we promised. I ask for your and our audience’s forgiveness,” Erdogan said
