Answer- Hindi

Hindi Diwas or Hindi Day honours the significance of the Hindi language every year on September 14. This day marks the anniversary of a compromise that was reached in 1949 when deciding which language should serve as the official language of the Republic of India. While Hindi was advocated to be the national language of India by a section of the Constituent Assembly, members from South India wanted English to be included as well.

It was then decided that English would be one of the official languages till 1965. However, after the 15 years were over, the government of India said that English would continue to be one of the official languages of the country.

The compromise that was reached between the two parties became the Indian constitution’s articles 343–351. The compromise is also referred to as the Munshi-Ayyangar formula, named after K. M. Munshi and N. Gopalaswami Ayyangar, both of whom were members of the Constitution’s drafting committee.

On September 15 every year, the government of India awards the  Rajbhasha Kirti Puraskar and the Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar for works in the Hindi language.

Besides Hindi Diwas on September 15, the language is also celebrated on January 10 every year, which is called World Hindi Day. The day was first celebrated in the year 2006.
