In the recently concluded Reliance AGM, Mukesh Ambani, the second-richest man in India, announced a succession plan for his empire worth $208 billion. The 65-year-old gave a blueprint of how he wanted to divide his empire between his three children- Isha, Akash, and Anant.
Anant was recently in the news when his father bought him a beach-side villa in Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah that costs around $80 million. While he will be leading Reliance’s new energy business, his elder siblings Akash and Isha have also been allotted their own sectors. Akash is currently serving as the chairman of Jio Network while Isha is set to take over Reliance group’s retail sector.
Ambani’s focus on green energy was evident in his address at the AGM. The billionaire remarked, “Reliance’s New Energy business offers unprecedented opportunities for multi-decade growth, as decarbonising the global economy will require annual $5 trillion investments for several decades in Green and Clean Energy globally. This underlines the sheer magnitude of responsibility and opportunity for RIL’s New Energy business, which is far more ambitious, far more transformational, and far more global in scope than anything Reliance has ever done before,”
At the AGM, Ambani also laid out his plans to launch 5G technology in India. The business tycoon said that every city in India can be expected to have 5G connection by Diwali 2022.
