Sri Lanka won the 2022 Asia Cup championship after a turbulent start to the competition that included unrest at home and in the UAE. Sri Lanka forced themselves back into the game thanks to a comeback led by Rajapaksa and Hasaranga, and a determined finale ensured they would produce a respectable total. Pakistan’s average ground fielding and catching contributed to their success; their finest fielder, Shadab Khan, had a historically bad outing. Sri Lanka, in contrast, demonstrated on the field just how much they desired this. The first half saw Pakistan suppressed, while the second saw them completely destroyed.
