Amazon Quiz: Who recently won the 2022 Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix?

Max Verstappen

Lewis Hamilton

Charles Leclerc

Fernando Alonso

Answer: Max Verstappen

With its existence dating back to 1921, the Italian Grand Prix is the fifth-oldest national Grand Prix. Along with the British Grand Prix, it is one of only two Grands Prix that have run continuously as a part of the Formula One World Championship Grands Prix since the competition’s inception in 1950. With the exception of 1980, when it was hosted at Imola, every Italian Grand Prix for Formula One throughout the World Championship era has been held in Monza. Up until at least 2025, the event is still scheduled to take place at the Monza Circuit.

The 2022 Italian Grand Prix was won by Max Verstappen while the Safety Car was in operation, with pole-sitter Charles Leclerc coming in second as Red Bull prevented Ferrari from winning at home at Monza.

Max Emilian Verstappen is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver and the 2021 Formula One World Champion. He races in Formula One for Red Bull Racing under the Dutch flag. He is a former Formula One driver Jos Verstappen’s son.

At the 2015 Australian Grand Prix, when he was 17 years, 166 days old, he set a new record for the youngest Formula One driver.

Verstappen had won 31 races as of the Italian Grand Prix in 2022 and had won 17 pole positions. At the 2021 French Grand Prix and the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix, he recorded his first career hat-trick and grand slam. After agreeing to a contract extension, Verstappen will continue with Red Bull at least through the end of the 2028 racing season.
