Personnel of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) held a flag march within DJ Halli police station limits in Bengaluru, where violence broke out on Tuesday night, reported ANI.

Section 144 was imposed in the area and has been extended till 6:00 am on August 15.

A clash broke out on Tuesday night and continued till wee hours of Wednesday, after a mob, triggered over a ‘communally sensitive’ social media post, went on a rampage and set the DJ Halli police station on fire.

The police retaliated and three people lost their lives in police firing. 

Scores of people, including around 50 policemen, were injured in the clashes.

A total of 110 people have been taken into custody in connection with the violence.

On Wednesday, Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai said six companies of the Central Reserve Police Force are being dispatched to the violence-hit areas of Bengaluru, PTI reported. He also announced the deployment of the Rapid Action Force.
