According to ScreenRant, Rael’s costume portrays he is playing both sides of the war, he is a rebel, fighting in the dirt but he also uses his costume of power to work from inside. His character is one of the most intriguing ones in the series.

The trailer shows that he not only recruits Cassian but also Saw Gerrera and his Partisans. The character appears to be playing a double life according to the trailer. He appears to have one life recruiting individuals to the Rebel Alliance and the other life as a luxury on Coruscant.

I’ve just been hiding for too long.” Luthen Rael and Mon Mothma could be working towards a Rebel Alliance in the series. They might even be wary of each other and team up later in the season.

Luthen Rael’s first name was revealed in the subtitles for the first Andor trailer, and his last name was first shown in a LEGO set reveal during Celebration Anaheim.
