Suryakumar Yadav again failed to register a significant score against India’s arch-rivals Pakistan in the Asia Cup Super 4 match between the two sides. Yadav, who is currently 3rd on the ICC list of Men’s T20I Batting rankings (behind Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan) managed to score only 13 runs in 10 balls in the crucial fixture.

Yadav has played 25 T20I matches till date and boasts of a strike rate of 177.51. His highest score is 117 in the format. In contrast, in the three matches Kumar has played against Pakistan, he has scored a total of 42 runs with an average of 14.

In the ongoing match, a poor shot selection on his part saw the batter sweeping for a six at square leg off a Mohammad Nawaz ball. Asif Ali caught the ball easily and sent the 31-year-old back to the pavilion.

India did start its innings against Pakistan in spectacular fashion, with both openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul going for the big hits in the early overs. Despite the good start, Sharma and Rahul also fell to poor shot selection and both got dismissed in attempts to hit a six.

Rishabh Pant, who replaced veteran Dinesh Karthik in the starting lineup, was also unimpressive in the match. The left-handed batter went for the reverse sweep but could not time his shot properly, resulting in the ball nicking the top of the bat and going towards the cover point. Asif Ali was there once again to take the catch.

The most impressive Indian batter in the match was Virat Kohli. The former India captain took matters into his own hands after the openers were dismissed early and helped India reach a defendable score of 181 with his 44-ball 60. Kohli hit four 4s and one six in his innings.
