Apple launched a number of new devices in its latest event, Far Out. The event started off with the launch of three new Apple Watches- Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Ultra. It was followed by the launch of Airpods Pro 2, and ultimately of the new iPhone range– 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro, and 14 Pro Max.

The Pro and Pro Max variants of the iPhone 14 come with their latest processor- the A16 Bionic chip. The iPhone 14 and 14 Plus models will continue using the iPhone 13’s A15 Bionic chip.

A16 Bionic chip

Apple revealed that the A16 Bionic comes 16 billion transistors, six cores for high performance and two cores for efficiency. It will also feature a five-core GPU, the memory bandwidth of which will be 50% more.

The 16-core neural engine is capable of executing around 17 trillion processes every second. The six cores for high performance, according to Apple, will use around 20% less power than its A15 counterpart. Apple claims that the A16 Bionic chip is 40% faster than its rivals.

A16 Bionic will support better camera performance

Apple announced that the A16 Bionic chip’s neural engine, GPU, and processor will be used to support the new camera hardware found in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models.

Apple has also introduced a new Display Engine in the A16 chip that will be used for peak or low brightness conditions and the 1 Hz refresh rate for the latest always-on feature.

Another unique feature Apple has added to the Pro and Pro Max phones is the Dynamic Island. The tech giant is doing away with the notch at the top that has been there since iPhone X. It is being replaced by the pill-shaped Dynamic Island which will modify its size according to notifications received. It will also contain a TrueDepth camera for face ID and selfies.
