In the midst of a heated online discussion about vaccination disinformation involving comedian Joe Rogan and Twitter CTO Elon Musk, billionaire Mark Cuban defended vaccine expert Peter Hotez.

Cuban criticized Rogan on Sunday for supporting the anti-vaccination rhetoric of people like 2024 presidential aspirant Robert F. Kennedy Jr. while making statements that he believed were destructive to the medical industries.

On Rogan’s show on Thursday, RFK Jr. expressed his opposition to vaccinations and made a suggestion that the CIA would assassinate him. Professor Peter Hotez termed the show “nonsense” and posted a Vice News piece that criticized Rogan. In response to this, Rogan challenged Hotez to debate RFK Jr. on his show, which led to a series of argumentative tweets between Rogan and Hotez, with Musk siding with Rogan in between.

Giving a controversial reply to Rogan and Musk, billionaire Cuban posted on Twitter, “Way to talk in generalities Joe. Not saying there aren’t a lot of fucked up things about pharma. That’s why we created http://Costplusdrugs.com. But to ignore that the same industry has saved who knows how many lives is bullshit and you know it. It’s also disrespectful to all the doctors, researchers and medical professionals that dedicate their lives to saving lives, like Dr Hotez and the 800k plus doctors in the country that believe vaccines save lives.”

He added, “Trying to bully Dr Hotez is ridiculous. You have producers that will prepare you and you get to control the conversation. @RobertKennedyJr also has a staff ready to prepare him, and these topics are what he talks about in every speech. You both do this on a daily basis Dr Hotez works every day to try to find ways to help people. Joe, you and @elonmusk’s @twitter are the mainstream online media and your platforms have become everything supposedly wrong with MSM. You are driven by self-interest. Just like the MSM always has been accused of.”

However, not everyone on social media agreed with Cuban’s opinion. Mark faced backlash regarding this Twitter post with one Twitter user saying, “LOL @ Cuban trying to insert himself into this thing so he can sell more pharma products on his platform,” while another Twitterati commented, “We appreciate you publicly acknowledging that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Again.”
