Amazon Quiz: What is the name of the resident cat of 10 Downing Street, the subject of much public scrutiny and affection?

Options:

Larry

Lil Bub

Marmalade

Nala

Answer- Larry

Larry the cat is officially known as the Chief Mouser of No. 10 Downing Street. The cat has served the premierships of David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson, and the six-week tenure of Liz Truss.

Larry even has a Twitter account of his own, albeit unofficial, from where it was posted, “The King has asked me to become Prime Minister because this nonsense has gone on long enough,” in reference to the short tenure of Truss.

In addition, Larry’s consistent stay helped him garner a hugely devoted following among British citizens during a time of unstable governmental leadership. He frequently makes fleeting cameos at significant events as a result of his position at 10 Downing Street, such as in 2019 when he napped under a limo to extend Donald Trump’s visit.

When Rishi Sunak was confirmed as new leader of the Conservative Party and Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Larry’s satirical Twitter account sent out a message: “His family is loaded, so caviar and lobster on the menu for me from tomorrow”.

After a rat was sighted by TV cameras outside the entryway on February 15, 2011, he was assigned to 10 Downing Street. According to the U.K. government website, the cat was adopted from the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home by the U.K. Cabinet under Cameron and given the title of Chief Mouser.
