In a recent interview with Inverse, Sophia Di Matino, the Loki star aka %u2013 Lady Loki or the female variant of Loki Sylvie Laufeydottir %u2013 has said that there is much more to the character of Sylvie than just being a variant. “This isn’t the story of Loki being reborn as a Lady Loki,” said Sophia.

“That’s not the specific story we’re telling. I think the story we’re telling isn’t necessarily about gender fluidity, but that Sylvie is a variant of Loki, but she’s Sylvie, a character and a person in her own right,” she added.

Thankfully, Sylvie%u2019s character won%u2019t be a complete enigma for long as a recent Twitter featurette for the series shows previously unseen footage of what looks to be Sylvie%u2019s backstory, including a young version of herself. When asked about Sophia’s reaction ti this featurette Sophia said that it helped her understand the character of Sylvie in a much better way.

Sylvie, previously known as %u201CLady Loki%u201D or %u201Cthe Variant,%u201D isn%u2019t the purely evil serial killer Agent Mobius made her out to be. In turn, Sylvie tells Loki that the Time Variance Authority%u2019s agents aren%u2019t what they say %u2014 they%u2019re timeline-breaking variants like her who were arrested and enslaved by the TVA.
