The Kansas City Chiefs began week 2 of the 2022 NFL 2022 season when they took on the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday night, September 15. Patrick Mahomes was the starting quarterback for the hosts and one of the players to watch in the game.

Mahomes did not disappoint the fans when an incredible touchdown pass by him was converted by Jerick McKinnon in the 12th minute of the second quarter.

The touchdown pass came minutes after Zander Horvath’s one-yard touchdown from a pass from Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who has been touted as one of the rivals of Mahomes in the 2022 NFL season. That touchdown gave the Los Angeles Chargers a 10-0 lead in the first play of the second quarter.

However, the Kansas City Chiefs did not waste any time responding to the Chargers taking the lead as Patrick Mahomes’ nine-yard touchdown pass was caught and converted by 30-year-old running back Jerick McKinnon. The touchdown pass by Mahomes included a seven-play and 75-yard touchdown drive featuring a 19-yard pass by Mahomes to 32-year-old tight end Travis Kelce to complete the touchdown.

The touchdown helped the hosts to make the score 10-7 and cut into the lead by the visitors. The second-quarter touchdown pass against the Los Angeles Chargers took Mahomes’ tally to six this season, five of which came in the previous game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Mahomes has been one of the standout players for the Chiefs against the Chargers in Thursday night football, as he completed 90.9% of his passes in 88 yards. The sidearm touchdown pass to McKinnon by Patrick Mahomes was also his eighth pass on Thursday night and helped him to make his 1,588 career pass completion. It also helped him to overtake quarterback Alex Smith to have the third-highest successful passes in the history of the Chiefs.
