Pakistani education activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai told Hollywood actor Anna Kendrick about the shows she watches on Netflix.

The 25-year-old was speaking to Kendrick at the History Talks annual event that brings together political leaders and celebrities for conversations. Kendrick told Yousafzai, “You are so iconic and have accomplished so much. There might be a temptation to look at you and go, ‘This person is wired different, and I could never make a difference the way she’s making a difference”, adding, “These stories make us feel like we can relate to you, and we could be the next Malala.”

Asking Yousafzai what she was watching on the streaming platform, Kendrick joked that the activist had to be specific, or else she would not believe Yousafzai.

The activist first named Cobra Kai, the series based on the Karate Kid movie and named after the dojo where the antagonist in the original, trained. “I love Johnny”, she confessed, referring to William Zabka’s character Johnny Lawrence, who also appeared in the original movie.

Yousafzai also spent some time talking about the latest season of Stranger Things and how Vecna scared her. While she noted her anticipation for Season 5, the activist also found it hard to sit through the show alone.

She then talked about switching to shows that made her “happy and less worried”. In this context Yousafzai mentioned Never Have I Ever and Ted Lasso. The former is a comedy-drama about a first-generation Indian American teenager who wants to improve her social status at school after a bad first year. However, friends, family, and feelings get in the way. The latter, which did well at this year’s Emmys is about a man who has absolutely no knowledge of soccer becoming the coach of a soccer team. The show’s popularity has led to its inclusion in the latest edition of FIFA, the football game.
