Mohammad Rizwan is Pakistan’s wicketkeeper and opening batter. His performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022 played a massive role in Pakistan reaching the final. In the tournament, Rizwan managed to score 281 runs in six innings at an average of 56.20. The 30-year-old amassed three half-centuries in the tournament.
2021 was another outstanding year in Rizwan’s career. He was named one of Wisden’s Cricketers of the Year and adjudged the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year by world cricket’s governing body. Rizwan has also been impressive with his batting in Tests. He has scored a total of 1232 runs in 24 Test matches, with his highest score being 115*.
Rizwan had some trouble in the earlier parts of his career with breaking into the Pakistani national side. He was a wicketkeeper who could only be added to the squad as a replacement for former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed. This is the reason that despite debuting in 2015, he has been able to play only 65 T20I matches to date. Rizwan averages a stunning 52.67 in the shortest format of the game and boasts of a strike rate of 128.47. He has 18 half-centuries and one ton to his name in T20Is.
