Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, which was released on January 10, 2023, has achieved record-breaking sales.

Duke of Sussex Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare has made a
record by selling more than 1.4 million copies in English across the United
Kingdom, Canada, and the United States of America.

Spare’s publisher Penguin Random House announced on January 11, 2023, that Prince
Harry
’s memoir has recorded the highest number of sales ever for a non-fiction
book by the publishing house.

Reporter Carly Ledbetter
took to Twitter and posted, “It’s official: Penguin Random House says that
“Spare” sold more than 1.43 million copies in the US Canada, and the
UK on Jan. 10. “

The post further said, “This makes “Spare” the
largest first-day sales total for any nonfiction book ever published by Penguin
Random House.”

Managing Director of Transworld
Penguin Random House, Larry Finlay in an interview said, “We always knew this book would fly but it is
exceeding even our most bullish expectations. As far as we know, the only books
to have sold more in their first day are those starring the other Harry
(Potter).”

Spare has also become one of
the best hardcover-selling books surpassing Obama’s book.

Barnes & Noble’s director
of books, Shannon DeVito also talked about Prince Harry’s Spare and said, “We
sold books in every location — and we sold a lot of them. Some people came in
right before work, some people came in on their lunch break, some people came
in after. But the velocity of sales throughout the day was gigantic.”
